The Soulful Cricket is happy to announce that the Holistic Moms of Southern Chester County will be meeting here the third Wednesday of every month from 7pm - 9pm  beginning in September!

Holistic Moms is open to the public and welcomes all moms, dads, partners, grandparents and other caregivers in the Chester County and surrounding areas.

FINAL DEADLINE! Sculpting Your Inner Goddess

The final deadline to register for the upcoming "Sculpting Your Inner Goddess" seminar is JULY 7th.  Monica needs to have all registrations complete by then to give her enough time to order supplies.  To be sure your space is reserved, please email Monica with the best way to be contacted.

UPCOMING EVENT: Sculpting Your Inner Goddess

A few weeks ago we announced a very cool upcoming event presented by Lancaster poet, author and artist, Monica Stover -- "Sculpting Your Inner Goddess". 

Monica will be presenting a lesson of goddesses throughout history and lead you through the process of finding your own inner goddess using a combination of discussion, activities and clay.  You will leave here with a physical representation of your personal inner goddess and a boatload of great goddess-knowledge.

Pre-registration for this event is required, since there are a lot of materials involved.  To register or ask any questions you may have about this event, please contact Monica by email.  If you prefer to be called back, please indicate so in your email with your phone number.  If you register by this Friday (June 21st), you'll receive a $10 discount!

CANCELED! Open Mic Poetry Night

Sorry, but tonight's Open Mic Poetry Night has been canceled.  We are going to try again in the early fall, so don't despair!  Our next scheduled event is the "Sculpting Your Inner Goddess" with Monica Rae Stover on July 27th.  This is going to be a VERY cool event!  Register early for the discount and to reserve your spot, as space is limited!

Open Mic Poetry Night - LAST CALL!

This Friday is the Open Mic Poetry Night here at the Soulful Cricket!  It's a new event for us and we're very excited!  I've had many people express interest and say that they want to come, but I've only one person actually RSVP.  SO - I'm reserving my right to change my mind and am asking you to please RSVP either by calling me at 610-444-2629,  emailing me or through the Facebook events page by Thursday, May 30th. 

Students of all ages are welcome, so if you're a teacher or librarian and have some writers in your midst, please feel free to bring them!  I am a strong proponent of encouraging young writers and this could be cool atmosphere for them to feel empowered!!

NEW EVENT! Poetry Night!

Open Mic Poetry Night

Bring your own original poetry to read to other aspiring and hobby poets and to those who just enjoy poetry!  We'll sit out under the setting sun* to enjoy the evening and our talents!  The Soulful Cricket will provide decaf coffee (Dunkin' Donuts!) and a variety of hot teas.  We encourage you to bring your own picnic food, lawn chairs (or blankets) and beverages of your choice... and maybe some bug spray.

Rules and Things To Know:

1. Please bring no more than two poems.
2. Please keep your poems to less than five minutes each.
3. You will probably not be reading your poems back-to-back.
4. Please do not bring poems that incite hatred.
5. Weather permitting, we will be outside. Please dress appropriately and bring a chair or blanket and bug repellant!
6. Picnic baskets with food and drinks are welcome. Provided will be decaf coffee, iced tea and a selection of hot teas.

*In the case of inclement weather don't get bugged!  We will move inside to the Library/Music Room. 

NEW EVENT! Sculpting Your Inner Goddess

SCULPTING YOUR INNER GODDESS

Every woman is a spiritual manifestation of Goddess. Whether you have an intimate relationship with the Goddess within, or have never considered how Goddess manifests in your life, this workshop will provide an opportunity to commune with your inner Goddess, meet and learn from other women in a safe, accepting environment, learn basic sculpting tips, and go home with your own hand-crafted Goddess sculpture.

This workshop, presented by Monica Stover, will consist of a casual opening session of discussion, activities, and sculpting instruction. Class will resume after lunch break for grounding and a guided meditation followed by sculpting time. Beginner to advanced skill levels are welcome and individual guidance will be available as time allows.

After June 21, 2013:  $60 

Number of participants is limited.  Pre-registration is appreciated. No non-registered participants will be accepted at the door.  Cost includes light refreshments, and all sculpting materials will be provided. Participants are asked to bring a brown bag lunch, an open mind, and a willingness to let your creative Goddess out to play. Please wear appropriate clothing for working with clay.

All payments must be made by check with mailing information given at time of registration. Pre-registrations must be post-marked by 6/21/13.

INSTRUCTOR'S BIO:  

Monica Stover is a poet, artist and author. After studying Psychology and Art at Lycoming College, she settled down in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where she lives with her husband and two four-legged companions and works to be a pro-active voice within her local community.

Monica has been writing poetry, essays and fiction for over two decades and has been previously published in The Witches' Voice, Plain Spoke, SNM Horror Magazine, and Poetry Quarterly. Monica developed her passion for teaching as co-chair for the Recovery Curriculum and Training committee of the Lancaster County Recovery Task Force, developing mental health recovery training curricula and a train-the-trainer program for Lancaster County and beyond.

Monica is a practicing pagan and kitchen witch. She has written and led numerous group and solitary rituals, including blessing ways, hand-fastings, seasonal celebrations, guided meditations, and initiatory rites. Monica’s previous workshop topics include labyrinths, chanting, and spiritual creativity. She is excited to blend two of her passions - art and women’s spirituality- into this current offering, "Sculpting the Goddess Within".
